Margaret's Story
Margaret was referred to the Home Delivered Meals Program in the summer of 2005 from the Senior Adult for Independent Living Program. Margaret is Diabetic and had suffered from a heart attack and needed meal assistance in her home after she was released from the hospital. Margaret lives alone in a mobile home park community. The Home Delivered Meals Program brought a daily meal and Margaret was happy to see the HDM Monitors and commented how great the meals were and how they helped her feel better. Margaret knew that she could not cook such a variety of nutritious meals on a daily basis. Margaret was starting to regain her health and thought she wanted to quit the HDM Program. Margaret put her meals on hold and had a health set-back. Margaret called and the HDM Program began delivering meals to her again. Margaret started feeling better again but this time she waited a few months before she placed her meals on hold. Margaret’s health improved significantly and was able to close her Home Delivered Meals.
